In Defense of "Boring" Babcock: Why Our Calm Campus Is Actually Our Strength

Everyone wants Babcock to be more exciting, more vibrant, more "happening." But can I offer a wildly unpopular opinion? Our "boring" campus might be exactly what makes us special.

While students at other universities are navigating cult clashes, strikes, and constant chaos, we have something rare: peace. Actual, genuine peace to study, think, and grow. That's not boring—that's privilege.

Yes, we should have more extracurriculars. Yes, the food could improve. But let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. The calm environment here allows for deep focus, meaningful spiritual reflection, and authentic community building that gets drowned out in louder environments.

I've talked to graduates from other schools who envy what we have here. They remember their university years as stressful and fragmented. Many Babcock alumni remember transformation.

So before we rush to make Babcock into something it's not, let's appreciate what it is: a space where you can actually hear yourself think. In today's noisy world, that's revolutionary.

Maybe we don't need to be the most exciting campus. Maybe we just need to be the most intentional one.

Disagree? Let's debate it.
