The newly inaugurated President/Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State, Professor Afolarin Ojewale, on Monday unveiled a five-point strategic agenda designed to further position the institution on the global stage.

Prof. Ojewale outlined the agenda shortly after taking over from the outgoing President/Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ademola Tayo, during a brief ceremony held on the university campus.

The roadmap, captured under the acronym GRACE, focuses on producing globally relevant faculty, staff and students; delivering internationally impactful research; strengthening Adventist-rooted values; building a competent and cohesive community; and deepening entrepreneurship.

Describing capacity building as the central pillar of his administration, Ojewale noted that developing people will ultimately strengthen the institution.
“The mandate I have here is to build. We want to uplift and have a Babcock that is globally relevant. We build the people, and the people will build the University,” he said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to academic excellence and called for the cooperation of staff, students, alumni, the media, and other stakeholders to consolidate and expand on the achievements of his predecessor.

Appreciating journalists for their consistent support, the Vice-Chancellor urged them to continue promoting the university through objective and constructive reportage.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Education Writers' Association of Nigeria (EWAN), Mr. Mojeed Alabi, assured the Vice-Chancellor of the association’s commitment to fair, balanced and professional coverage.
