The Library at Midnight: A Love Letter and a Plea
To whoever decides library hours: please hear me out.
Some of us think best at night. Some of us have our most productive hours after 10 PM. Some of us need a quiet space away from roommates to truly focus. Yet the library closes just when we're hitting our stride.
I'm not asking for 24/7 access (though that would be amazing). But extended hours during exam periods? Maybe midnight closing instead of 10 PM? This small change could transform academic performance for night owls like me.
I know there are security and staffing concerns. But other universities manage this. Could we pilot a program? Maybe even just one section of the library stays open late with security present?
We're always talking about academic excellence. Well, excellence requires flexibility in learning styles and study habits. Let's make it happen.
Who else would use late-night library hours?
